Privacy Policy — Dark PDF Viewer
Last updated: October 6, 2026
What this extension does
Dark PDF Viewer is a browser extension that opens PDF documents in its
own built-in viewer, offering a light/dark toggle, text selection, search,
and a contact form.
Data we collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
- PDF documents. PDFs you open are fetched directly
from the website hosting them (or read from your local disk) and
rendered locally in your browser. They are never uploaded to any
server operated by the developer.
- Browsing activity. The extension observes navigation
events only to detect when a page is a PDF document. It does not
record, store, or transmit your browsing history.
- Settings. Your viewing preferences (dark/light mode,
zoom level) are stored only in your browser's local storage on your
own device. They are never synced or transmitted.
Contact form
The optional "Contact Deveoper" form in the viewer submits the name, email
address, and message you type to
Formspree,
a third-party form service, which forwards it to the developer's email
address. Formspree processes this submission under its own
privacy
policy. No other data — including which PDF you are viewing —
is sent with the form.
Permissions
- webNavigation — used solely to detect
top-level navigations to PDF files so they can be opened in the
built-in viewer.
- Host permissions — used solely to fetch the
PDF file you choose to open. The extension does not read, modify, or
transmit the content of any webpage.
Third-party services
- Formspree (contact form delivery only)
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used.
Data sharing and sale
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with any third party.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL.
